Night Scorpion Walk at Dinosaur Hill
August 27th, 7:30pm- 9:30pm
$20 members/ $30 non-members
Join scorpion aficionado Mike Perry for a fascinating look into the secretive world of these incredible nocturnal arachnids! The evening kicks off with an introduction to scorpion behavior and biology, followed by a short night walk to spot them in the wild. Thanks to their natural fluorescence, these critters glow an eerie, bright neon green under UV light—and we'll be tracking them down using special ultraviolet flashlights!
Important Participant Notes:
- Mobility: Participants must be comfortable walking approximately 1/4 mile in the dark over uneven, desert terrain.
- Gear: Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are highly recommended. You may also want to bring a walking stick for support. UV flashlights will be provided (or feel free to bring your own!).
Rec Center Behind-the-Scenes & Sweet Treats!

Join EUREKA! on an exclusive adventure to explore Grand Junction’s brand-new Community Recreation Center! On this guided exploration, going behind the scenes reveals the amazing engineering, design, and architecture behind this state-of-the-art 107,000-square-foot facility. Check out the brand-new St. Mary's indoor aquatics center, high-tech fitness areas, gymnasiums, and indoor climbing wall before it opens to the public!
After discovering how physics, architecture, and recreation come together, cool off with a classic local treat at Graff Dairy for delicious ice cream with fellow explorers (sweet treats not included).
Persigo Water Treatment Plant Private Tour
October 15th, 9:30am- 12:30pm
$15 members/ $20 non-members
Wastewater treatment is a perfect example of how science is used to protect public health. Join us to tour the Persigo Wastewater plant as well as a presentation by Abby Wharton, from CDPHE about how older adults can use wastewater surveillance data to protect their health.
2026 Overnight Trip Info
Overnight Trip Lottery for 2026
New for 2026! For all overnight trips, EUREKA! is utilizing a lottery system. This allows for equity in the registration process.
Use this form to enter into a lottery for any of the six EUREKA! Explorations Overnight trips for 2026. The lottery is open from January 12-21, 2026
Lottery preference is not determined by the time that you fill out this form as long as it is submitted by midnight on January 21.
- Participants will be notified of lottery results by January 26th.
- Participants only need to fill out this form one time.
- Spouses who enter the lottery will be guaranteed accommodations for two people, one bed. Only one spouse needs to submit lottery entry, but please list both names on the first question.

For trips requiring airfare, we’ll provide a recommended flight itinerary and a ticket purchasing event at EUREKA! Participants on international trips are required to have travel insurance.
Please note that meal costs are not included unless specified.
Refunds for Explorations trip reservations cancelled within two months of trip date are subject to non-refundable trip fees (such as tickets and reservations paid by EUREKA!) and standard processing fees that will be deducted from registration refund. Cancellations within one month of trip date are non-refundable.
If EUREKA! must cancel a trip, full refunds will be processed.
