General Description of Responsibilities:

The STEAM Intern position is a part-time position that assists with all educational programing offered through the EUREKA! Science Museum during the '22-'23 school year.

The incumbents will be responsible for engaging and educating children in kindergarten through 12th grade about STEAM using demonstrations and hands-on activities. STEAM Interns deliver educational content in camp programs, after school programs, no school days, birthday parties, and more. The individuals in these positions will be responsible for developing and co-instructing STEAM lessons, providing inquiry based feedback to program participants, and managing classroom behavior. This position requires someone who is passionate about science education, has a desire to work with youth, and who can provide meaningful, fun learning experiences to program participants.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Co-instruct lessons with peers, admin staff, and other EUREKA! staff and volunteers
  • Effectively manage classroom behavior
  • Engage and interact with parents in a professional and positive manner

Requirements:

  • Full-time or part-time college student enrolled in a degree program (preferably related to STEAM and / or education)
  • Successful outcomes on a criminal background check
  • Documentation of COVID-19 immunizations

Desired Qualifications / Experience:

  • Prefer experience working with youth

Licenses, Certificates or Equipment Required:

  • CPR, First Aid, AED training required within 90 days of hire

Additional Information:

Wages are dependent on applicant's qualifications. Starts at $15.50 / hour

The incumbents will be responsible for engaging and educating children in preschool through 12th grade about STEAM using demonstrations and hands-on activities. Assistant STEAM Instructors deliver educational content in camp programs, after school programs, no school days, tutoring, field trips, birthday parties, outreach demonstrations, and more. The individuals in these positions will be responsible for developing and co-instructing STEAM lessons, providing inquiry based feedback to program participants, and managing classroom behavior. This position requires a strong leader who is passionate about science education, has a desire to work with youth, and who can provide meaningful, fun learning experiences to program participants.
